It took 8 months to uproot the tree stump and form the square root table
Racine Carree is French for Square Root and makes the English name the Square Root Table. Both names are a beautiful fusion of a found oak stump, a unique tailor-made design by Thomas de Lussac and traditional dovetail craftsmanship that connects the tabletop and single leg to the tree trunk.
The oak stump was found in the Perch region in northwestern France and the craftsmen of Perchébois, E. Chartrain, Bouhours and Gautier, built these tree-inspired furniture.
The dovetail joinery is much larger than the standard dovetails used in fine furniture!
The single conical table leg connects the tabletop with a continuous groove connection.
It took over 8 months to complete the table.
As with most stumps, the meandering organic form was rough and it took a lot of grinding before assembly could begin.
The original design was sketched on paper before the construction process began.
